Metronome at London Design Biennale 2021
LINQ-X coordinated the entire soundscape, bringing both K-array and Moodsonic together in order to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Inspired by ‘In Search of Lost Time’ in Swann’s Way from Marcel Proust, Metronome aims to create a time bubble for visitors to reconnect with themselves, time and involuntary memories using their senses.
Metronome offers a multi-sensory experience that aims to trigger a combination of visual, olfactory and sound emotions, and plunge spectators into a meditative internal journey. The installation will create a symphony of sound and fragrance, offering a calming and reflective space in the aftermath of 2020’s intense disruption.
While the pendulum swings in the centre of the room, a sound experience – designed by the immersive soundscape creators at Moodsonic and delivered through a surround sound system developed by Steve Lastro and K-Array– is intended to trigger an autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR). This is a tingling sensation, usually intitiated by sound, that typically begins at the scalp and moves down the spine, creating a feeling of bliss or relaxation.
